ECHO BROADCAST CHARTS ON CKUA TOP 100 FOR 2010

Amidst a maze of this years top recordings John Rutherford's Echo Broadcast shows up on the CKUA Radio Networks Top 100 for 2010. Proud to hold down the #71 spot John joins the list with some of todays biggest names in music and along side fellow Alberta artists JR Shore, Ghostkeeper, Woodpigeon, Rae Spoon, Tim Hus, Ruth Purves Smith, Dana Wylie Band, Dave Babcock and the Jump Orchestra, Carrie Day, Michael Rault, Bill Bourne, Magnolia Buckskin, Kent Sangster, Souljah Fyah, James Clarke and Kat Danser.

Also CKUA Announcer David Ward chose John's CD as one of his top 10 picks for 2010.

 SOLO AT MIKEY'S

Following a successful appearance at Alberta Showcase 2010 and in advance of travels to Halifax for several performances, John is staging his solo show at the venerable Calgary blues haunt Mikey's Juke Joint for one night only, Thursday November 4. The Performance will feature a rack of vintage instruments from John's extensive collection dubbed as his "Band of Guitars". The show starts at 9:00PM with two sets.

 APPEARING AT ALBERTA SHOWCASE 2010

John will be attending and is a featured showcase artist at Alberta Showcase 2010. Now in it's 33rd year, the event brings together presenters from across the province who are searching for artists who will tour to their communities. Alberta Showcase takes place this weekend in Red Deer Alberta starting today, wrapping up Sunday October 24. John's showcase performance takes place at Red Deer College, Saturday October 23 during Showcase #3 beginning at 1:30PM.

JOHN JOINS RAY BONNEVILLE ON STAGE

Great show last night at the Nickelodeon Music Club in Calgary with John opening for Austin Texas based roots and blues master Ray Bonneville. Following a solid opening set Bonneville showed why he is a much respected and much awarded soul man. At the end of the evening Ray Bonneville invited John to join him on stage for a closing number.

3 SHOWS AT THE CARLETON IN HALIFAX

Following the news that Echo Broadcast reached the #2 position on the CKDU Radio Top 30 Music Chart arrangements have come together very quickly for a promo tour to follow up on the buzz and present a few songs to audiences in Halifax. John will be performing somewhat of a residency at The Carleton, at the centre of the Halifax roots, acoustic and folk music community, performing opening sets; first for Kevin Fox on November 21 and the next night November 22 for David Gogo. Part of a double bill with Joel Fafard, John will also be playing the Carleton Tuesday November 23. Check the LIVE SHOWS section for more information.
